Annenberg TV News (ATVN) is USC's television-multimedia news operation operated by USC students. ATVN produces a live nightly newscast at 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, that airs campus-wide on Trojan Vision. ATVN also produces exclusive web content. Working with modern broadcasting equipment, ATVN students learn how to produce a daily local news broadcast, from working with cameras, to delivering a weather forecast, to editing a live show.
ATVN's use of the web was constrained by a legacy web content management system that did not provide enough robust video support and did not possess the flexibility needed by a modern TV news organization.
Urban Insight previously worked with the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism to create a news delivery platform called the Annenberg Social News Platform (ASNP). Based on the popular open source content management system Drupal and the Kaltura open source video platform for online video management, this platform was first built for and powers the popular site Neon Tommy.
Urban Insight is the largest Drupal consulting firm in Los Angeles.
