With 100,000 objects dating from ancient times to the present, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the largest art museum in the western United States. A museum of international stature as well as a vital part of Southern California, LACMA shares its vast collections through exhibitions, public programs, and research facilities that attract nearly a million visitors annually.
LACMA's use of the web was constrained by a legacy proprietary web content management system that kept LACMA's highly creative staff from taking advantage of the latest web technologies, limited the ability to update the website to just a few technical team members, and was unable to integrate content from LACMA's diverse program areas.
Urban Insight worked with the LACMA technical team to solve these problems, and migrate the website to the popular open source web content management system, Drupal. Urban Insight helped LACMA to implement a new high-availability hosting platform, create a sustainable Drupal architecture for the new website, integrate content from multiple systems, provide multimedia for the web and mobile devices using the Kaltura video platform, and enable the LACMA staff to easily manage the website.
Urban Insight is the largest Drupal consulting firm in Los Angeles.
